JOB TITLE
Field Supervisor – Construction
We are seeking a bilingual Field Supervisor to join our dynamic construction company in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in building construction, with experience in home building highly preferred. Effective communication skills in both English and Spanish are essential to facilitate communication with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Team Management: Lead and manage onsite teams, including subcontractors, foremen, and laborers, to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Conflict Resolution: Foster a collaborative work environment and swiftly resolve any issues that arise on-site.
- Decision-Making: Make sound, timely decisions to address challenges or complications encountered during construction.
- Project Planning: Coordinate project phases and schedules to ensure on-time, on-budget project completion.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets or exceeds company and industry standards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, architects, and clients.
- Vendor and Supplier Negotiation: Manage supplier relationships and negotiate to resolve any issues with vendors efficiently.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role within the construction industry, preferably in home building.
- Educational Background: High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish to communicate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Safety Standards: Knowledge of site-specific construction practices, building codes, and OSHA safety standards.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of Systems: Familiarity with structural, electrical, and mechanical systems in residential construction.
- Experience with Budgeting: Ability to assist in budget management and cost tracking.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Charlotte-area construction market and suppliers.
- Project Estimation: Basic knowledge of estimating techniques and tools for project scoping.
- Certification: OSHA 30-Hour Certification or willingness to obtain it within 3 months of hire.
- Scheduling: Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, or Buildertrend) is a plus.
